We are delighted to announce that Gymfusion returns to Phoenix this Autumn, bringing a new dimension to the wide range of opportunities already available at our club.
Gymfusion is a creative and collaborative discipline which brings together gymnasts of all ages and abilities to create group displays using skills and talents that can be acquired at all levels of gymnastics, along with dance and performance techniques. It’s a great way to build ability and work with other gymnasts from across the club, developing relationships, supporting one another through sharing skills and having great fun learning and performing show style routines.
Gymfusion builds on the ethos of Gymnastics for All that is so important to British Gymnastics; it is inclusive and a ideal way to mix simple gymnastics moves with dance and group routines without focusing on the ‘big’ moves that are generally only achieved by the most able gymnasts. There is lots of opportunity to learn new acrobatic moves, display tumbling and showcase dance, all learned in an environment that also promotes fitness and flexibility.
Participants will learn warm up routines to music, acrobatic and partner glances, synchronised routines and more; ability is far less important than enthusiasm and there is room for gymnasts of all ages and experience to develop team work skills and new tricks.
Gymfusion is intended as a no competitive element to the gymnastics repertoire but has an exciting nationwide Festival programme where clubs come together to perform and enjoy costumed routines from all across the country. The 2016 “Carnival” festival tour has produced some great displays and we aspire to be just as good!
Have a look at this routine as an example of the ones which compete in the festivals by local club Huntingdon Display team.
Sessions will run on Sunday from September 11th 2016 at Phoenix and will be coached by Fran, Amelie and Merry; with plenty of gym, dance and acro experience we hope it will be an exciting and enjoyable event for all attendees. The group will go on to become our display team, providing plenty of performance opportunities.
Sessions are 11am for age 5-9 and 12pm for age 10+ and are priced £28 a month for PGA members and £35 a month for non members. Please call or see Sarah in the office to book a place.
